Senators Kelly and Sinema Introduce Legislation to Support UArizona’s College of Veterinary Sciences

Last week Senator Mark Kelly introduced the Arizona Experiment Station Land Conveyance Act, co-sponsored by Senator Kyrsten Sinema, that would transfer Forest Service land to the University of Arizona in an effort to ensure that the V-V Ranch, a livestock research ranch operated by the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, can continue its important educational mission.

Pima County Drops Mask Requirement for Vaccinated Individuals

May 15, 2021

Pima County has removed its mask mandate for fully vaccinated people following updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The University of Arizona is asking those attending commencement ceremonies to continue masking when entering, exiting and moving around inside venues. University Communications assisted with this story.

Legislature Authorizes Community Colleges to Offer Four-Year Degrees

May 11, 2021

After more than a decade of legislative attempts, Governor Ducey signed a bill that permits community colleges to offer certain four-year degrees. The bill passed out of both chambers by significant margins and was signed by the Governor on May 4, 2021.

Governor Signs Bill to Legalize Sports Betting in Arizona

On April 15, Governor Ducey, accompanied by several tribal leaders across the state, signed into law a bill that legalizes sports betting in Arizona. HB2772 (fantasy sports betting; event wagering) was one of the Governor’s main legislative priorities.
